The Staining

    For Adi

That moment

when out of Nowhere

you feel deeply Alone

you don’t know why

but you know

your life

has changed

never to be

what it was-

Never

the irrevocable

shift

into a New World

bringing

Responsibility

All At Once

a concept so unknown

so remote

so Massive

Fear Coated with Dread

*

and yet somewhere

Hidden

deep deep down

a miniscule seed

set Aglow

with Worth

Satisfaction

even Joy

in the budding

capacity

as Life Giver

The Wait

Swaying on the floor of the lake

among soft

and blackened leaves

I wait

Battle, a thing of the Past

 faded weapons

 dampened alarm

the sirens quiet at last,

Vigilance Dissolved

into rolling liquid

my body surrenders

wavers to the current’s

Hold

breathing a deeper breath

even anticipation has melted,

lulled weightless by the water

no delay, just lingering

I wait

The Badlands Of March

To the Inhabitants of the Great North American East

In the Bleak, see acrimonious,

terrain of March,

(a March still frozen, encrusted

with swathes of rancid snow)

there is no Promise

no hope, just desolation,

what appears a permanent

Wasteland

shows no signs

of its Gestating depths

of the buried Life

deep at work,

unalterably,

renewing itself

Sap Rising

that mounting Force

Strong As Life Is Strong

Indomitable as it is,

mirrors our Wonder

at seeing it burst

forth, when desperate

and wasted,

we least expect it
