The Beautiful Minds

 the Minds

That Compel Us

To Lift Our Heads

*

 sweep Dust

from darkened corridors

convey  Light

turn Alleyways

into 4 lane Boulevards

tributary streams

into powerful Rivers

*

Minds that

with a Gleam

and a Nod

open Doors

 Create Vistas

Broad and Beautiful

*

leave us convinced

Of A Journey

*

a taste of Opportunity

lying in Wait

*

 should we choose

*

those People

of those Minds

teach us

For A Moment

*

to Give

a little further

Fear a little less

stretch a fraction harder

love ourselves

just

that bit more

keenly

*

Transitioning

Those Passages,

when we change planes

or trains, are Redirected

onto other quays, gates

a New Direction

****

This line will take you

only so far,

another will bring

you further

****

Then it is back around again,

back to where you started

this time with new Eyes

a different shading to those lenses

more or less Resolution

A Heart that Leads

****

Unless of course, the Journey

was so distressing

the eyes Shut

the heart hides Deep in the Chest

and only Fear can be gleaned.

Thresholds

images-2Beautiful hand painted wood,  Scalloped Designs

rich paisleys, Fleur de Lys

Ornate and golden

Stern metal, a shelter

Stone carved, cool but reassuring

Then there is the cave,

The edge of the lake

The train stations

The dojang floor

Thresholds, the first step crossing onto a journey

Unknown mostly – unexpected surely

The defining moment is the step

irreversible Once made,

the entrance fades

the choice of a moment

for better or for worse

but always a choice

the thresholds of our lives

the markers

and then there are those of us

who choose never to choose

also a choice

who stand,

 look in, shift

from one foot to the next

whine, judge, lament

grow bitter for having always remained outside

of Life

teetering, missing, fearing
